Universal to Open Fourth Orlando Theme Park Next May

Universal Orlando Resort is set to enhance its offerings by opening its fourth theme park, Universal Epic Universe, on May 22, 2025, just in time for Memorial Day. This new park will intensify competition with Walt Disney World, which also operates four theme parks in the area.

Epic Universe will feature themed areas based on beloved franchises, including Harry Potter, Super Nintendo, and “How to Train Your Dragon,” along with attractions inspired by iconic monster movie brands. Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Orlando Resort, expressed excitement about this pivotal moment for the destination, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year.”

Tickets and vacation packages for the new park will be available for purchase starting next week. Initially, visitors with multi-day passes will have access to Epic Universe for only one day due to expected high demand. Guests can also visit Universal’s other three parks—Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and the Volcano Bay water park—as part of their multi-day ticket packages.

Additionally, the new Universal Helios Grand Hotel will open concurrently with Epic Universe, expanding the resort’s accommodation options alongside its existing ten hotels.

In response to the competitive landscape, Disney has also announced plans for expansion, hinting at an investment of up to $17 billion in its Florida resort to possibly add a fifth theme park.
